WATCH: Snake learns ‘lesson’ after trying to eat up porcupine

A boa constrictor in Brazil learned a prickly lesson after it tried to eat a porcupine, an animal known for its stiff and sharp quills.

The ghastly incident was caught on camera last week by an unidentified resident and was first uploaded on video-sharing site LiveLeaks before frightening netizens on other social media platforms, Yahoo! News reported.

As seen in the clip, the slithery serpent is writhing in pain after its whole body was allegedly pierced with the porcupine’s quills. The man’s dog began barking at the reptile, causing it to coil in fear. It is unknown if the boa constrictor survived the ordeal or if the porcupine escaped or was killed.

As of this writing, the clip posted on YouTube racked up 4.3 million views and a strand of sympathetic and hilarious comments from netizens. “First time in my life I feel sorry for a snake,” YouTuber Mary C said.

According to the National Geographic, a boa constrictor normally preys on birds, monkeys and wild pigs. But porcupines are considered an odd addition to the menu.  Gianna Francesca Catolico /ra
