WATCH: Why cockroaches like to nest inside PS4 consoles

Dark, narrow and warm spaces are often breeding grounds for many types of detestable cockroaches species. Guess what, they also find the insides of PlayStation 4 consoles to be prime real estate.

The problem is that even Sony won’t even go near a roach infested PS4 even if it was still under warranty. That’s where the repair guys from XCubicle come in.

Kotaku reports that this independent console repair shop found on the Lower East Side of Manhattan is one of the few places that gamers can bring their roach motel PS4s to be fixed and sanitized.

The shop gets an average of one cockroach infested PS4 every week. These kinds of repair jobs have become so commonplace that they’ve begun charging a $25 “roach fee.”

According to their repairmen, roaches like to crawl in through the PS4’s ventilation grates. They then proceed to the internal power supply where they set up a little roach love nest.

Within this small, dark and warm space, little roaches are born, then start defecating all over the circuit board. Over time, the roach feces damage the components.

At times, a cockroach would electrocute itself on one of the metal contacts, and that would prevent the console from booting up.

The best course of action to prevent this from happening is to keep the console on a high and well-ventilated area. It’s not a guarantee that these little buggers won’t make it in, but it will at least do the job of discouraging them, even if only a little, from taking over your expensive gaming machine.
