Speculations abound when it comes to new iPhone. But apparently, Apple is cooking up something totally new for their iconic smartphone.

Bloomberg reports that Apple is currently testing out a new type of screen. They are also doing work on curved glass, stainless steel materials, as well as better cameras. Furthermore, the new iPhone will reportedly be equipped with an OLED display.

Along with the release of the new iPhone, upgraded versions of the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus will also come out. These will continue to use IPS LCD displays.

The launch date for these new iPhones is expected to be some time in September until December. But customers may have to wait at least two months after the official introduction. Supplies for the new devices may not be able to keep up with the demand.

As for Samsung’s Galaxy S8, with its large screen and thin bezels, the phone is doing well in the market. Samsung also sold more of its phones worldwide at around this same time last year, based on early 2016 figures. Faced with the competition, Apple will really have to go for something big in order to shift attention back to its iPhone products. Alfred Bayle/JB
