WATCH: ’Counter-Strike: Global Offensive’ turned into fighting game by 3D animator

Counter Strike Fighter Alpha (What if CSGO was a fighting game?)

The position of “Counter-Strike: Global Offensive” as a staple, competitive first-person shooter (FPS) game has been set for several years, but how would it fare as a fighting game?

YouTuber Chris Le recently uploaded a video which turned two of the FPS game’s player skins into actual characters with combos and special moves.

He called his creation “Counter Strike Fighter Alpha” with a possible reference to actual fighting game “Street Fighter Alpha”.

The two characters featured in the video are SAS, a member of the counter-terrorist team, and Abdul who is part of the terrorist faction. They appear to be inspired by actual CS:GO player models, but with some modifications.

Their fighting moves are full of references from CS:GO tactics and strategies from the flash bang grenade, all the way to Abdul’s bomb detonation finisher. The only thing missing was the “terrorist win” voice over.

According to Le, 3D animation work for the two-minute video lasted for around two months. Le also creates custom skins for CS:GO.

It may be unlikely that an actual fighting game inspired by CS:GO will be made, but the possibility remains for character skins from this title to be applied unto existing fighting games like “Street Fighter” or “Tekken”. JB
