Cat collecting game “Neko Atsume” for smartphones will soon be taking over virtual reality, as digital cats make their way to the PlayStation VR in 2018.
The announcement was made during the 2017 PlayStation Conference, an event annually held by Sony prior to the Tokyo Game Show convention. This information was also shared through the Japanese PlayStation Twitter account.
“#2017PSカンファレンス(2017PSConference) The popular smartphone game among women ‘Neko Atsume VR’ (Hit Point Co., Ltd.) which also became a hit movie last spring, will be coming to the PlayStation VR in 2018.”
Apart from the game’s logo and release year, no other details were shared, but it would be easy to imagine a cartoony Japanese-style house in virtual reality crawling with digital cats.
It would be a cat-lover’s paradise, provided he or she owns a PlayStation VR headset and PlayStation 4 console.
In the meantime, cat people can start their collection on smartphones through the Neko Atsume iOS and Android apps. JB
