Tokyo’s “Shibuya Scramble” intersection has gained international fame for the sheer number of people crossing it every day. However, the people’s daily crossing routine were disturbed one evening when a black vehicle sped through the streets while pedestrians were walking.

According to Nitele News 24 via SoraNews24, after the van ran through the crowd of people, a police car appeared behind it, giving chase. This car chase went through the crossing again as the van attempted to shake off its pursuer.

CCTV camera footage of the incident got onto the internet and was shared on Twitter. Here, it shows how the van circled around after turning down one street to go back through the intersection.

Twitter user @re7123 said, “Do you sometimes walk while looking at your smartphone? You should never do it while crossing the street or climbing stairs!! I was headed towards the scramble intersection when I saw the live video on YouTube. I hesitated and turned back. It was too scary.”

Footage of the event shared by Twitter user @shinsuke4586 from the TV screen showed a man angered by the black van. He attempted to fight back. As the crowd quickly dispersed, this man stood his ground and launched a kick at the side of the passing van. The impact pushed him down, but he appeared relatively unhurt.

Fortunately, no pedestrian was hit by the rampaging van during the incident.

The internet may have even gained a new meme: the “One-Kick Man” of Shibuya Scramble. JB
