Video game peripheral maker Hyperkin created some buzz when it revealed its retro Ultra Game Boy handheld gaming console at the Consumer Electronics Show 2018, which is being held in Las Vegas, USA, from Jan. 9 to 12.
Gizmodo reports that the original plastic frame has been shed in favor of an all aluminum body.
It also comes with backlight. Users may turn the backlight off for quieter operation.
Hyperkin also created a specialized Android game controller called the SmartBoy. Its aesthetics has been borrowed from the original Game Boy. The smartphone slides in from the top then plugs into a USB port.
Nintendo tickled the nostalgia of gamers by releasing classic versions of the Nintendo Entertainment System and SNES game consoles to great effect. While Hyperkin’s Ultra Game Boy may not be an official product by Nintendo, it does open the possibility of a Game Boy Classic to be released. Alfred Bayle /ra
