PC users running legacy operating systems Windows XP and Vista would no longer have access to the iTunes Store program starting May 25 due to new security measures being applied.
A support document published by Apple stated that the latest versions of the iTunes Store program would no longer run on these older operating systems. However, users may still opt to use older versions of iTunes.
Starting May 25, users will need at least a Windows 7 PC with the latest iTunes version installed to make purchases, or to re-download previously purchased music.
The document also noted that first generation Apple TVs would not be supported by the iTunes Store anymore. Apple has declared the product obsolete; it would no longer receive further security updates. JB
