Privacy body warns Facebook users on personal info posts

/ 06:35 AM April 07, 2018

The National Privacy Commission (NPC) urged the public on Friday to be more vigilant and circumspect in their use of Facebook following the latest data breach scandal that hit the social media giant and was believed to have affected the accounts of more than 1.1 million Filipino users.

According to NPC Chair Raymund Liboro, Facebook users should “minimize the personal information they share online and maximize the use of existing privacy protection features and tools.”

Facebook recently found itself in hot water with the data breach involving political consultancy Cambridge Analytica.

Liboro said that the NPC was in talks with Facebook to determine the extent and the sort of data obtained from Filipino users. —JOVIC YEE
