Facebook Messenger’s AI-powered ‘M suggestions’ now in PH

07:18 PM July 02, 2018

Facebook on Monday announced that it is expanding its AI-powered “M Suggestions” to the Philippines, a year after it was launched in the United States.

M Suggestions is Messenger’s virtual assistant tool that is generated by Artificial Intelligence (AI). It suggests how a person can respond to conversations such as:

  • Sending stickers: M shares fun sticker suggestions for daily life interactions like “Thank you” or “Bye-bye”
  • Sharing your location: M can suggest an option to share your location during a conversation when people ask questions like “where are you?”
  • Starting a poll (in group conversations only): Having a hard time making decisions in a group? M lets people set a poll topic and vote in group conversations
  • Wishing someone a happy birthday: M suggests sending friends a birthday wish on Messenger through a birthday sticker, wish card, or video with accompanying birthday art effects
  • Initiating calls/video calls: If people are chatting 1:1 or in a group and someone expresses interest in making a call, M will suggest a voice or video call on Messenger. For example, if someone says “want to call me?” M will surface this suggestion

According to Facebook, the product identifies communication patterns to suggest how a person can respond to a conversation.
