Classic browser game “Neopets” will be making a comeback through the mobile platform.
A mobile app called “Neopets Legends and Letters” was announced during the 2018 San Diego Comic-Con held at the San Diego Convention Center, California between July 19 and 22, reports The Verge.
The new mobile app will be a mix of Neopets, Scrabble, and puzzle gameplay to allow for more functionality on the mobile platform. Along with the app’s launch will be a new mobile website which would let users play various minigames on their mobile devices.
However, longtime Neopets fans may hit a speed bump with their experience since browser accounts are separate from those in the new app. On the bright side, fans who download the app may still dress up and customize their virtual pets like they did in the classic browser interface. Neopets CEO David Lord also mentioned a battle system which will be included in the app.
Neopets fans may expect the new app to come out around October for Android and iOS.
Neopets debuted in 1999 as a website where users could care for virtual pets and customize them through clothing and accessories.
The online browser game has had several owners in its long history but its robust fanbase has kept Neopets going up to this day. Alfred Bayle/NVG
