Nintendo added another accessory to the Switch game console with new controllers that paid homage to the classic Nintendo Entertainment System (NES).
These new NES controllers for the Switch will retain the boxy retro look, but can still be docked on the sides of the console like a pair of regular Joy-Cons.
Nintendo of America made the announcement through a tweet made today, Sept. 14. It also specified that the retro NES Joy-Cons will be exclusive to Nintendo Switch Online members.
The pair of controllers costs $59.99 and shipments are scheduled to begin by mid-December, according to the product page.
Nintendo Switch Online is essentially a service that will give subscribers access to Nintendo’s library of classic games in the NES game console. Subscribers will also have access to online play, wherein friends play cooperative or competitive games over an internet access.
The service will officially launch on Sept. 18. Until then, Switch owners can sign up and try out Switch Online for free. However, the service page noted that not all countries will have Switch Online. /ra
