The newest MacBook Air and Mac Mini may include a set of new features, but their enclosures are all second-hand and come from 100 percent recycled aluminum.
Apple aimed to further lower the company’s carbon footprint by using an in-house designed, recycled aluminum alloy to wrap its latest computing products. The move is a first for the company, according to a statement.
Apart from recycled enclosures, the Mac Mini will also use recycled plastics for most of its plastic parts.

All in all, the Cupertino, California-based company estimated that the recycled parts brought down each device’s carbon footprint to nearly 50 percent from their last iteration.
The new MacBook Air and Mac Mini were launched at Apple’s New York event on Oct. 30. A new iPad Pro with thinner bezels and Face ID were also introduced at the event. /ra
