With the remake of late 1990’s survival horror “Resident Evil 2” so well received on console and computer, the Android and iOS editions of “PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds” are welcoming an official crossover called Survive Till Dawn.
Alongside the usual caches of equipment and weaponry, zombies and bosses from “Resident Evil 2” will populate the island of Erangel in a new event mode for “PUBG Mobile”.
Going live with the 0.11.0 update, which began rolling out on Feb. 19, the event is to be made available “for a limited time only,” though its end date has not yet been specified.
“Resident Evil 2” themed outfits, main menu, and music are also included in the update, as well as various alterations intended to commemorate the Android and iOS app’s one-year anniversary; it launched in China on Feb. 9, 2018 and then worldwide from March 19.
1998 Playstation survival horror classic “Resident Evil 2” was comprehensively remastered and released in January 2019 across PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC, welcomed enthusiastically for its visual, aural, and gameplay tweaks while remaining true to the tense action of the original game.
It is a second worldwide collaboration for “PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds” as a whole. In November 2018, it had introduced purchasable character costumes in the style of “Suicide Squad” movie characters Harley Quinn and Joker.
Similarly, genre rival “Fortnite” had teamed up with Marvel in 2018 for the late April and early May theatrical release of “Avengers: Infinity War” via a temporary event that allowed players to become bad guy Thanos and wield the movie’s Infinity Gauntlet. JB
