PH up one spot in world digital competitiveness ranking
MANILA, Philippines — The Philippines slightly improved in the world digital competitiveness ranking, an international index has shown.
According to the IMD World Digital Competitiveness Ranking 2019, the Philippines ranked 55th out of 63 economies in the world, one notch higher compared to its 2018 ranking of 56th.
The world ranking “measures the capacity and readiness of 63 economies to adopt and explore digital technologies as a key driver for economic transformation in business, government and wider society.”
Article continues after this advertisementThe ranking was based on three indicators — knowledge or the capacity to understand and learn the new technologies; technology or the competence to develop new digital innovations; and future-readiness or the preparedness for the coming developments.
Two other variables in robotics were also introduced in the 2019 ranking.
The top five countries — United States of America, Singapore, Sweden, Denmark, and Switzerland — retained their rankings from last year.
