School hopes to fill gap for data analysts through online course
MANILA, Philippines—The scarcity of data analysts in the Philippines has prompted an online school to offer online courses seeking to equip students with comprehensive analytical and research skills.
AMA Online Education (Oed) on Friday signed a parternship deal with software developer and business analytics leader SAS and its implementation partner Thakral One to provide support in providing online courses on data analysis.

He said AMA students trained by SAS would help SAS and other analytics companies fill the need for data analysts.
SAS country manager Ryan Guadalquiver said analytical skills are in greater demand as businesses undergo digital transformation.
Article continues after this advertisementAll businesses, he said, are now going through digital transformation “wherein data are very important.”
He said SAS’ role was to prepare AMA online students for “this new reality we call the digital economy.”
The objective, he said, was to “harness all these data that are not available in some of these business organizations, to be able to bring value out of it.”
Students in the program will have access to SAS software even at home. Graduates would go through a three-month boot camp to further hone their skills.
