Meet ‘Mr Jeff’: The App for your laundry needs

MANILA, Philippines – “Do you ever sleep?” You may hear your family or colleagues ask you this all the time. If you feel 24 hours a day are not enough for all the chores you need to do, you’re probably not alone. Most of us have to juggle time between career, family and housework. For example, cleaning the house, changing linens, cooking and doing laundry take up a lot of time and energy that we usually tend to relegate ‘me time’ to the backburner. We shelve our hobbies and passions just to be able to fit all tasks within a day.

Do you have a choice? Of course you do! Outsourcing some chores by using the power of technology, for instance, can ease your life up a little bit and save some quality time for the things you would love to do.

And for your laundry needs, there’s the Jeff app, serviced by Mr Jeff laundry shops.

Jeff’s idea stems from something very simple. Its Spanish founders, young techpreneurs Eloi Gómez, Adrián Lorenzo and Rubén Muñoz, have keenly observed people living frantically and often not having time to enjoy simple pleasures. They wanted to change this and make life a little easier. They saw an opportunity in the laundry industry and they decided on offering home-delivery laundry and dry-cleaning services.

“In our research, Filipinos already spend an average of 4 hours a day commuting (in traffic, waiting for public transport or locating parking space). With the Jeff app and pick-up/delivery service, Filipinos can spend more of their time in recreational activity instead of spending hours washing, hanging and folding their clothes,” says Aaron Rodriguez, Jeff’s VP of Marketing.

Mr Jeff guarantees a 48-hour turnover and this is backed up by a system that Filipino franchisees use to schedule and book customers so they are able to meet the scheduled delivery of customers’ clothes. If you are keen on online shopping, delivery services, restaurant booking, food delivery, and mobile banking, being able to outsource your laundry using the Jeff app adds to the usefulness of the phone as a tool to make your day-to-day life easier.

Young professionals who live alone, college students who stay in the university dormitories, career women, newlyweds starting a family, people who are always on-the-go, and those who are tech savvy will see practicality and convenience in the way Mr. Jeff frees their lives from tedious daily tasks.

“Those who live in big cities usually stay in homes that are less than 100 sq.m. (e.g. condos/ townhouses) where they don’t have space for a washing machine or a place to hang their clothes. So they turn to neighborhood laundry shops. However, laundromats these days are mainly do-it-yourself. You pack your laundry, bring it to the shop, load it up on the washer, dryer, pay for the laundry detergent and conditioner. By the time they’re done, they have already spent a big part of the day at the laundromat,” Rodriguez explains

The Jeff app and website—downloadable and accessible through any mobile phone or computer—allows customers to select the exact location, time, and day of laundry pick up. A driver then picks up the customer’s laundry, and delivers them, cleaned and folded, ironed or dry cleaned, in just 48 hours. The laundry is washed in Mr Jeff Laundry Hubs located in several areas (such as Alabang, Las Pinas, Ermita, Congressional Avenue, West Fairview, Tiendesitas and Sta. Rosa) More hubs are opening in Metro Manila and Cebu in the coming months.

The app is available through subscription and has two options: the Plan LITE which includes four regular laundry bags, (approx. 4-5kgs) at 960-1060/month or 240-265/wk and is good for one to two persons. The Plan MAX includes four large laundry bags (approximately 8-10kgs) and usually costs 1280-1399/ month or 320-350/wk. Extra services such as additional laundry bags (regular, large or eavy) and ironing (for one, three, or 12 pieces) are also available.

All these plans include one laundry service per week or four pick-ups and four deliveries per month. Customers can change the date and time of pick-up and delivery via the app. Subscriptions are renewed monthly but they can cancel any time before their month renews. They also allowed to “pause” their subscriptions if they’re going on holiday and pay via cash, card or via the Jeff card (wallet).

With all the time and energy you save using Mr Jeff, go ahead, hit the gym, do that long-postponed tete-a-tete with your friends, launch that online business, visit your parents, engage in a movie marathon with the kids, date your spouse, volunteer in a shelter, start that painting or craft you’ve nearly forgotten, even get a massage…you deserve it!

Jeff will soon launch Beauty Jeff and Fit Jeff, all in the one app that aims to promote the good, good life.

Freeing you from what you may not want to do and giving you time to do what you are passionate about will make your life balanced and fulfilling—this is what Mr. Jeff is really all about.
