The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has approved the test run of a mobile application that will allow people to cast their votes online in future polls.

“The @Comelec En Banc has approved a test of mobile app voting to see if it is useful for overseas voting etc.,” Comelec Commissioner Rowena Guanzon said in her Twitter account (@commrguanzon).

The Comelec official said the mobile voting app may also be tapped for future use by voters belonging to vulnerable sectors, such as persons with disability, the elderly and pregnant women. —Tina G. Santos
