Google at Work shows how AI agents can help businesses

Businesses worldwide have been adopting artificial intelligence (AI) faster than ever. Consequently, Google Cloud featured its real-life applications in its Google at Work event. 

Its official website categorizes the different AI agent types based on their goals. These are customer agents, employee agents, code agents, data agents, security agents, and creative agents. 

More importantly, the site shows roughly 50 examples of companies deploying each AI agent type to illustrate how AI can fit into your business. In this article, however, we’ll focus on a few standout examples.

Customer agents

These Google AI agents function across multiple channels, such as mobile devices, the web, and your point of sale. Moreover, you may augment your product experiences with voice and video.

• Best Buy uses automated call summarization to resolve issues 90 seconds faster.
• UPS Capital uses Google Cloud to analyze package movements and address data in real-time to spot potential issues.
• ScottsMiracle-Gro has a Google AI agent that provides personalized gardening advice and product recommendations.
• Snap integrated Google Gemini into its “My AI” chatbot to gain 2.5x more engagement. Also, the Snapchat company operated its digital companion with ChatGPT.

• Click Therapeutics develops digital therapeutics to treat diseases. Also, it leverages Gemini for Google Workspace to transform complex operations data into actionable insights. Consequently, they can quickly streamline the patient experience during clinical trials.
• Elanco is an animal health company that built its email-generation tool with Gemini. It helps sellers generate personalized messages to prospects and customers for research services. Moreover, it can search for answers to complicated customer queries.
• Randstad is an HR services company that uses Gemini for Google Wrokspace to enhance candidate relationships. As a result, they become more efficient and gain more time to focus on the human aspect of their work. 
• SURA Investments uses a Google AI agent to better understand customer needs. As a result, it improved sentiment analysis on more than 90% of calls and delivered a 10-point increase in customer satisfaction.
• Thomson Reuters uses Gemini Pro to accelerate specific skills tenfold. Even better, it unlocks new skills that require this large language model to process whole documents.

Code agents

Code agents support software developers in building and maintaining applications and systems. Here are some of their tasks:

• Suggest code optimizations
• Generate code snippets based on natural language descriptions
• Improve code quality
• Accelerate the development process

Pipet Code Agent is one of these AI tools. Google’s AI developer relations team designed it for commenting on code, finding mistakes, and suggesting improvements.

Google Cloud developed Vertex AI Agent Builder to allow businesses to create AI assistants without writing extensive code.

• The CME Group created the first-ever cloud-based commodities trading platform with Google Cloud. It offers trading customers deeper insights and smarter trades and facilitates rapid experimentation of new trading strategies.
• Intelligencia AI is a healthcare tech firm that uses Cloud SQL for Postgres to improve its AI-driven drug development predictions. As a result, the company delivers accurate and transparent results while reducing overhead.

• Formula E, Formula 1’s electric vehicle counterpart, uses Google Cloud generative AI. The technology summarizes two-hour-long race commentaries into two-minute podcasts in various languages.
• Globo, Latin America’s largest media group, uses Google Cloud AI to hyper-personalize content for streaming users. 
• PODS, a moving & storage company, used Gemini to create the “World’s Smartest Billboard.” it enabled trucks to coordinate their marketing displays in real-time in 299 neighborhoods.
• PUMA is a sportswear brand that uses Google AI agents to customize product photos. Consequently, its India branch gained a 10% increase in click-through rate.
• Radisson Hotel Group used Vertex and Gemini to personalize its advertising by training AI models on extensive datasets in BigQuery. As a result, ad teams got a 50% rise in productivity and 20% more AI-powered campaign revenue.
