How to stream Netflix on Discord

Do you want to watch Netflix with friends, even when they’re far away? Then, try streaming Netflix on Discord.

You can do it if you have an active Netflix plan and Discord server. Even better, you can do it on a Windows PC or Mac.

How to share Netflix on Discord

You need a Netflix plan and a Discord server. If you don’t have the latter, follow this guide to create a Discord server and then return to this article.

Then, start streaming Netflix on Discord with these steps from How-To Geek:

1. Open your preferred web browser, such as Google Chrome or Safari.
2. Then, run the Discord app. 
3. Click the gear icon to open User Settings.
4. Click Registered Games in the left sidebar.
5. Next, click Add It.
6. Click the Select drop-down menu and choose your open web browser.
7. Press Esc on your keyboard to close the Discord settings window.
8. Next, select a Discord server where you want to stream Netflix. 
9. Click the monitor icon next to your web browser. 
10. Open the Select a Voice Channel menu.
11. Choose the channel where you want to start the stream. 
12. Then, select your desired streaming resolution and FPS in the Stream Quality section.
13. Start streaming by clicking Go Live at the bottom of the Screen Share window.

You should see a floating window on your screen, letting you watch a Netflix show on Discord.

Once you’re done streaming Netflix on Discord, click the X icon of the floating window. Alternatively, hit the X at the bottom right corner of the Discord window.

How to fix the black screen issue

If you get a black screen while streaming, turn off hardware acceleration on Discord and your browser. Let’s start with Discord:

1. Launch Discord and click the gear icon in the app’s bottom-left corner to open Users Settings.
2. Next, click Advanced in the left sidebar.
3. Toggle off Hardware Acceleration.
4. Afterward, click Okay to confirm your selection. 

Then, it’s time to turn off hardware acceleration for your browser. Most people use Google Chrome, so let’s start with that:

1. Launch Chrome and select the three dots in the top-right corner.
2. Next, click Settings.
3. Select System in the left sidebar.
4. Toggle off Use Hardware Acceleration When Available on the right pane.
5. Afterward, click Relaunch.

If you’re using a Mac, you’re likely using Safari. Follow these instructions:

1. Open Safari and click Settings.
2. Click Advanced on the top right corner of the Settings window.
3. Toggle off Use graphics acceleration when available.

If these steps didn’t work, try running with admin rights. Right-click the Discord app and then click Run as Administrator.
