Boom Esports wins 2nd PKL title
MANILA, Philippines – Boom Esports won the Philippine Kings League (PKL) Spring 2026 Championship after defeating Team Flash PH, 4-2, on March 29, 2026 at the Quantum Skyview Deck, Gateway Mall 2, Quezon City.
After three seasons of the PKL, Boom Esports has bagged their second national title, winning $15,850 in prize money. They previously won in PKL Spring 2025, and finished 2nd in PKL Fall 2025.
From the lower brackets to lifting the trophy
Boom Esports’ Playoff run was an unpredictable journey. Despite finishing 2nd in the regular season and directly entering the Upper Bracket Semifinals, they lost to Team Flash PH to fall to the lower brackets.
After surviving against TNT in the Lower Bracket Semifinal, they faced rivals Blacklist International in the Lower Bracket Final.
A do-or-die against the reigning champions, Boom Esports dominated the Agents, 4-1. This win marked a major upset in the Playoffs, as Blacklist ended the regular season with a clean 9-0 match win streak.
“This was a difficult run, but not just the Playoffs run. Outside of it, we were all going through something as a team, so our championship became more meaningful because of it,” Karl “Karlll” Bautista said during the post-match interview.
This also marks the second trophy for Karlll, Heri “Tatsurii” Garcia, Miguel “Miggie” Banaag, and Reniel “Dr4w” Angara, and John “Daniii” Bulanadi’s first.
Karlll then earned the Finals MVP honors. He was also Finals MVP during their PKL Spring 2025 run. Karlll will receive $1,000 for his achievement.
Road to KWC
The top three of the PKL Spring 2026 will enter the Honor of Kings World Cup 2026 (KWC) at the Esports World Cup (EWC) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Teams from around the world that have qualified for the international tournament will compete for a prize pool of $3,000,000. The KWC will begin in late July 2026.
