Curated lists and personalized tools, Grab integrates 13 new AI-driven features to deliver everyday solutions
MANILA, Philippines – Grab introduced 13 new AI-integrated features for consumers and partners during GrabX, the annual product event on April 8, 2026 in Shangri-la Jakarta, Indonesia.
This year’s GrabX builds on the theme, “Everyday Guides to Local Life, Effortless Travel, and Business Empowerment,” with AI as its central driver.
“As a product builder, I believe AI should work the hardest for the people who need it most,” said Philipp Kandal, Chief Product Officer of Grab.
“Whether you’re a consumer who just wants a chatbot to choose your lunch, a merchant who needs to monitor multiple shops remotely, or a driver getting hands-free voice advice — we want the Grab app to be the Everyday Guide that handles the manual tasks, so you can focus on your day.”

The 13 AI updates
Grab organizes its features according to their respective categories.
Everyday Guide
Group Ride: This allows you and travel companions to book a single ride with pick-up points and an option to split payments. This saves up to 40% in fees compared to riding alone
Grab More: You can now order from different restaurants that are within proximity of each other in one order, and therefore one delivery fee.
Grab AI Assistant: An AI-powered in-app companion. Users can simply ask what they need, such as restaurants for group lunch meetings or finding a specific venue.
GrabMaps: A seamless navigator that not only shows you where to go but analyzes the best time to leave and the best routes based on real-time input from users and driver-partners. GrabMaps also include indoor maps to precisely locate shops within malls or establishments.
Cash Loan: A customizable repayment plan made accessible for users.
Effortless Travel
Personalized Travel Experience: Grab collects the information you need for your travel necessities and reminders, such as notifying for documents required per country. This feature is active even in arrival with navigation options and guides.
GrabStays: Partnering with an AI-first hotel ecosystem, Nutitee, GrabStays is for users looking to find a place to stay at the last minute. Based on the information provided, the feature will make it seamless to find same-day rates and assist in booking rides to and from the hotel.
Discover by Grab: AI will analyze your favorite food and habits to give you the best establishments near you. Users can also easily see reviews from other users. The customer journey is complete with options to book a table, book a ride to the area, or order from the restaurant you’ve selected.
GrabPay for Travel: GrabPay is Grab’s e-wallet that scans QR codes for online transactions.
Business empowerment
Virtual Store Manager: AI attaches to CCTV cameras within Grab-partnered enterprises to monitor safety and hygiene standards while analyzing foot traffic, queues, conversion rates, and more.
Cloud Printer: Grab has built a hardware device that auto prints orders when they arrive to prevent missed orders or long queues. Staff can scan a QR code afterwards to trigger pick-ups.
Tap To Pay: A digital payment system made available to partners.
Driver AI Assistant: A smart companion for driver-partners. Drivers can speak to the AI assistant for every day queries, challenges, or advice they’ll need.

Immersive learning and problem solving at its core
Grab has maintained the values they’ve upheld since its inception: to solve every day problems through innovative products with updated technology trends.
“We believe that everyone—regardless of their technical skill—should have the opportunity to jump on this AI wave, not be swept away by it. And we want to help as many people as we can,” said Anthony Tan, Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Grab.
“We’re in the AI Revolution now, and the ending hasn’t been written yet. Instead of allowing the gap to widen between the tech-savvy and the underserved, we are choosing to use our intelligence layer to bridge it.”
Kandal, during a group Q&A session with various media outlets from around Southeast Asia, has also confirmed that tests included weather, connectivity, and accessibility as well as cost-effectiveness for vendors and partner-enterprises.
“We’re well aware of device capabilities across Southeast Asia,” said Kandal on “So our device requirements are quite modest to make sure it works across devices. We’re very conscious about it. We don’t want to make AI only available on high-end devices, it has to work on all devices.”
Kandal then confirmed that the data is uploaded to the cloud to keep requirements low for both consumers and vendors.
Meet Carri, the robot delivery service
Among the anticipated announcements in GrabX 2026 is the introduction of Carri, an AI-robot tasked to carry items from shop to couch.
Carri was designed to make it easier for delivery riders to receive items from stores within malls or nearby establishments. It does not aim to replace riders but to reduce travel and delivery time.
“Our drivers lose around 10% of their earning time looking for a restaurant in a mall, or waiting for their customers to come down from office towers. If this little fellow can help handle that ‘wait’ by finding the restaurant and passing the order to the driver, it allows our drivers to move to the next job more quickly,” explained Tan.
Carri will not yet be available in the Philippines anytime soon.

The super app that keeps on growing
These new features are a far cry from the taxi hailing services they used to do back in 2012.
Since Grab’s launch, they’ve been known to find and understand everyday problems to create potential solutions and build their “super app” beyond transportation.
Because of this, Grab has consistently dominated the market in the Philippines and around Southeast Asia as technology advancement has translated to economic impact.
According to a study of the University of Asia and the Pacific (UA&P) in 2024, Grab Philippines contributed 0.07- 0.3-percent of the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) from 2019-2021, with an estimated value of P37 billion to P165 billion.
With Grab’s goal to provide everyday solutions, they have positioned themselves as a primary bridge between what is possible and what is accessible.
