PH telcos release advisories on Galaxy Note 7 recall
Two of the country’s biggest telecommunications firms, Smart Communications and Globe Telecom, have released advisories concerning the global recall of Samsung’s Galaxy Note 7 smartphones.
The Philippines was among several countries affected by the sudden pullout of the devices following the Korean tech giant’s discovery of a battery glitch that caused some of the phones to overheat and catch fire.

Article continues after this advertisementThe news of total recall on Friday led to Smart’s quick issuance of a statement advising consumers who own the device to proceed to their stores for assistance.
According to the post, Smart has stopped selling and releasing the phones in question and asked for everyone’s cooperation regarding the matter.
Article continues after this advertisementGlobe, on the other hand, issued a statement on Sunday, saying it was awaiting the replacement units from Samsung.
The firm assured its customers that they would replace their Note 7 with other devices of their choice, as long as they’re available.
For those who wish to keep their phones, Globe reminded them to follow proper safety precautions, like using the original battery charger that came with the unit.
Samsung, meanwhile, said that the new Note 7’s could arrive as early as next week but hasn’t confirmed yet when the Salaxy S7 units would be available. Khristian Ibarrola/rga
