Programmers run ‘Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild’ on PC

The new Zelda game on the Nintendo Switch is what every fan is raving about these days. One team of programmers thought about what it would be like to run Breath of the Wild on a PC. Before they knew it, they had a Wii U version of the game running on a PC in record time.

This project began shortly after the game’s official release. The programmers thought it would take months of work due to the multitude of different mechanics in the game. They were able to achieve their goal using a program called CEMU, reports GEEK.

CEMU is a program that allows Wii U games to be run on a PC. It’s basically an emulator. While the game is able to run on the PC, it occasionally suffers from frame rate drops. However, this is also the same case anyway on a Wii U.

The ported version of Breath of the Wild is not yet released but it’s easy to imagine Nintendo quickly bearing down on it in order to protect Switch sales, as well as their intellectual property. Alfred Bayle/JB
