Nokia smartphones to get ZEISS lenses

HMD Global, the company reviving the Nokia brand for cellphones, announced the signing of a partnership with ZEISS, one of the top companies for camera lenses.
ZEISS will not only be involved in providing HMD with lenses but will work hand in hand with the company in developing software, services, optics design and ways to enhance screen quality. The partnership aims to build “standard-defining imaging capabilities” that they hope will become a defining element of Nokia smartphones.
Before the Nokia brand fell into obscurity in the mobile phone market, devices starting from the Nseries up until the Lumia line were known for their great camera quality, thanks to the ZEISS lenses equipped in them.
HMD Global is hoping that a rekindling of this old partnership will once again make Nokia phones a legitimate competitor in the current Samsung and iPhone dominated market. JB
