Saturn to be visible on Earth on July 10
MANILA, Philippines — Saturn, the second largest planet in our solar system, will reach opposition on July 10, according to In-The-Sky.org, making the stunning planet visible on Earth.
In-The-Sky.org said Saturn will be visible for much of the night and will reach its highest point in the sky at around midnight.
Saturn will be visible between 7:06 p.m. on July 9 and 4:49 a.m on July 10.
When the ringed planet reaches opposition, Saturn, Earth, and the sun are all in a straight line, with Earth in the middle.
The National Geographic reported that the optimal position happens when Saturn reaches its “biggest and brightest showing for the year.”
But even at its closest approach to Earth, sky watchers will only be able to distinguish Saturn as “more than a star-like point of light” through the use of a telescope, according to In-The-Sky.org. (Editor: Eden Estopace)
