DAVAO CITY – The city hall building and its periphery might have become a public Wi-Fi hot spot but government employees should not use the free Internet connectivity to access websites that will distract or affect their productivity – including playing such popular games as Pokemon Go and Dota.

They should also not use the facility during government working hours to download or watch movies or post on their private blogs, update their Facebook accounts, or access Twitter and Instagram.

City Administrator Zuleika Lopez on Thursday said in a memorandum that city hall officials were prohibited from using social networking sites and playing games – even on their mobile phone – during office hours.

The free Internet access was under the Juan Konek project of the Department of Information and Communication Technology (DICT).

Aside from the city hall, free Wi-Fi was also made available at the People’s Park along Palma Gil and Camus Streets, as well as Osmeña and Rizal parks.

The public can enjoy 100 megabytes of data free through the free Wi-Fi access. JE
