Gretchen Ho, Wil Dasovich win in Asia’s biggest social media awards

Top social media influencers in the country were recognized in the recently concluded Influence Asia 2017, the region’s largest social media awards show held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The awards show held on April 8 gathered 250 social media influencers across seven countries in Asia, namely the Philippines, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, and South Korea. The winners were picked through a peer-to-peer voting by the Top 4 nominees of each category.
Blogger and YouTube personality Wil Dasovich bagged three awards in the Philippines, namely YouTube Channel Award, Breakout Influencer Award, and Influencer of the Year. TV host and volleyball star Gretchen Ho was hailed Top Health & Fitness Influencer, while Andi Manzano won the Top Parenting Influencer Award.
Other winners in the Philippines were Joyce Pring (Top Lifestyle Influencer), Tricia Gosingtian (Top Fashion Influencer), Janina Vela (Top Beauty Influencer), Cheryl Tiu (Top Food Influencer), and Lloyd Cadena (YouTube Personality Award).
“We want the Influencers and Content Creators to know and understand that they have a huge responsibility because many of the younger and future generations of today and tomorrow watch and read a lot of the content they create. Hence, Influence Asia serves as a platform to celebrate individual and group efforts to create strong and positive content,” said Althea Lim, Executive Producer of Influence Asia 2017.
David Lee Sang Seok, CEO of Yello Digital Marketing, said: “The growth of social media and its focus on digital content market expansion are proven to be a global trend. In particular, influencers who produce high quality creative contents will play an even more important role in leading the digital content marketing scene. Through Influence Asia, influencers in Asia will have a chance to network and celebrate their glory moments together.”
This year’s awards show, with the theme “For the Future,” also featured performances Korean pop star Jessica Jung; Malaysia’s homegrown talent, pop trio De Fam; Project E.A.R, a collaborative band of different acts from five different countries in South East Asia; Singaporean rapper Kevin Lester, dubbed The Lion City Boy; Top Indonesian singer-songwriter Tulus and Vietnamese pop singer and current judge on The Voice Vietnam, Noo Phuoc Thinh.
