Google Bard Is Here To Compete Against Bing and ChatGPT
Google joins the AI race by launching Bard against ChatGPT and Bing. It has similar features, except it uses a different large language model called LaMDA.
The acronym stands for “Language Model for Dialogue Applications.” However, Google Bard is only available for people in the United States and the United Kingdom at the time of writing.

Google Bard can do nearly everything ChatGPT and Bing can. It can generate different types of written media from simple user prompts.
For example, ask Google Bard, “can you describe what artificial intelligence is?” and it will write a paragraph defining this technology.
All three can generate a wide variety of written media, from jokes to scientific journals. Moreover, they can help you brainstorm ideas.
For example, you can ask ChatGPT or Bing to suggest ways to compose a company-wide email announcement. Yet, Google Bard sets itself apart because it links to the Google search engine.
ChatGPT relies on the GT-4 database that contains information dating up to 2021. Meanwhile, Bing uses its namesake search engine from Microsoft.
The problem with Google Bard is that it is still in its infancy while its competitors rapidly improve. Google warns people that it is an experimental project prone to errors.
It is probably making sure it would not make the same mistake it did during the initial announcement of Google Bard.
On February 9, 2023, Google shares lost a staggering $100 billion in value after the AI chatbot committed several mistakes in its announcement video.

Google Bard has a lot of catching up to do to keep up with Bing and ChatGPT. Both have numerous features absent in Google’s chatbot.
Bing offers conversation styles, Casual, Balanced, and Professional, enabling users to have more control over the chatbot’s responses.
For example, you may choose Casual to get more natural-sounding social media posts from Bing. Alternatively, select Professional when you need a definition for school work.
The best part about Bing is that you can sign up for the waitlist. Then, wait for Microsoft’s approval so that you can start using its AI chatbot.

OpenAI’s ChatGPT gained several features shortly after Microsoft’s investment. As a result, it has a new large language model called GPT-4.
It allows ChatGPT to have Bing-like conversation styles called “personalities.” More importantly, it can see and understand pictures.
For example, let’s say you received a school assignment on a piece of paper. The text is too long to type manually, so you snap a photo instead.
Send that to ChatGPT, and it can read and reproduce that text. Even better, you can ask the AI bot to create a summary.
ChatGPT has a longer memory than its previous version because it can save more than 20,000 words. Moreover, it works with more languages like South Korean and Ukrainian.
Google Bard hasn’t mentioned features similar to the latest Bing and ChatGPT features. Still, we can expect greater upgrades in the near future.
