Bongbong Marcos urges SEC to continue digitalizing services

MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. on Thursday encouraged the Securities and Exchange Commission’s (SEC) to further ease the use of government services through digitalization.

The agency’s digitalization efforts were unveiled during the inauguration of the SEC’s new headquarters in Makati City for its 85th Anniversary.

“Let us use all the successes to further promote ease of doing business and to actively contribute to our overall goal of bringing a comfortable life to our people. I likewise encourage you to continue the digitalization of your services and further invigorate the advocacy for sustainable finance and good corporate governance,” said Marcos during his speech.

Marcos encouraged the SEC to continue digitalizing its services to ease business dealings in the country.

“The SEC continues to be a reliant partner in our efforts to digitize government services,” said the President.

The SEC, the country’s corporate registrar, launched different programs with the goal of easing business.

These programs include the Electronice SEC Universal Registration Environment (eSECURE) and SEC Education, Analysis and Research Computing Hub (eSEARCH).

According to the SEC, the eSECURE is the gateway to its services. It collates all their services in one platform to let businesses access them all with one login.

Meanwhile, the eSEARCH will help the public access the information that companies give to the SEC.

Also present during the ceremony was Speaker Martin Romualdez, the President’s cousin. Marcos’ son, Ilocos Norte Rep. Sandro Marcos, also attended the anniversary and project launching.

Finance Secretary Benjamin Diokno and Agriculture Undersecretary Domingo Panganiban also attended the event.
