12:01 AM June 30, 2023

Riot Games will start a six-week League of Legends event named Soul Fighter, featuring a new game mode, LoL champion, and other goodies. Also, it features exciting upgrades to its spinoffs: Teamfight Tactics and Wild Rift. More importantly, Soul Fighter lets you test Riot Games’ highly anticipated one-on-one brawler, Project L!

Decades ago, gamers teased Riot Games for having only one game, League of Legends. Nowadays, it offers several LoL iterations and Valorant. Still, Riot continues supporting the game that skyrocketed the company to worldwide acclaim. The Soul Fighter event is great for long-time summoners and other video game enthusiasts.

This article will discuss the upcoming League of Legends Soul Fighter event. It will cover the new Arena game mode, the new playable champion Naafiri, the in-client fighter game, and other in-game goodies.

The Riot Games website says Soul Fighter is a six-week event offering new features to League of Legends, Wild Rift, Teamfight Tactics, and Runeterra. It will start on July 20 and end on August 28.

The biggest change it brings is the new Arena mode. It pits four pairs of players against each other over six rounds. They earn points for beating other teams, and the one with the most points wins.

Players or summoners choose a champion to fight for them, similar to classic LoL. Then, players choose upgrades and items before fighting commences.

Arena mode does not allow players to pick runes or summoner spells. Moreover, everyone starts at Level 3 and progresses throughout the rounds.

That means champions immediately have all their skills except their ultimates. Also, players receive 1,000 gold for the first two buy phases. Leveling up lets them spend more gold on items.

Purchase your first pair of boots and a starter item; you receive 3,000 gold per buy phase. Players can also earn extra 350 gold by beating an enemy champion.

Video game news site AFKGaming says players may pay 700 gold for one-round boosts called “Juices.” Also, the website says some buy phases let players choose one of three Augments instead of providing gold.

These Augments add special upgrades that change the way you play your champion. As a result, the right one could turn the tide in a losing match.

Arena Cameos may sometimes occur during Arena battles. One of 10 champions with Soul Fighter skins will randomly attack players to mix up fights.

New LoL champion: Naafiri

The old League of Legends featured a colorful cast of superpowered humans and other creatures. It’s been years since the game added a new non-humanoid champion, until now.

The Soul Fighter event will add a new Champion: Naafiri, the Hound of a Hundred Bites. The in-game lore describes her as a Darkin released from a cursed dagger.

Naafiri looks like a menacing monster wolf with an equally-terrifying pack, which assists her on Summoner’s Rift. Here’s how her abilities work, according to the official Riot Games page:

  • We Are More is a passive skill that spawns Packmates that attack Naafiri’s targets.
  • Darkin Daggers is an active skill that lets Naafiri hurl two daggers. Each inflicts the Bleed status effect and prompts Packmates to attack targets struck.
  • Hounds’ Pursuit causes Naafiri and her Packmates to dash at an enemy, stopping at the first champion hit and dealing damage.
  • Eviscerate dashes and damages enemies in an area, recalling and healing Packmates to full health.
  • The Call of the Pack empowers Naafiri and her pack and summons more Packmates. Moreover, when attacking a champion, she gains a bust of speed, vision, and a shield. Taking a champion down refreshes these effects.
