PNOC, CICC to explore use of hybrid solar and wind energy
TAGUIG, PHILIPPINES — The Philippine National Oil Company (PNOC) and the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC) signed a memorandum of agreement to study hybrid solar and wind energy.
The signing occurred on February 28 at the National Cybercrime Hub in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City.

PNOC President and Chief Executive Officer Oliver B. Butalid and CICC Executive Director Alexander K. Ramos were present during the event.
Ramos said the initiative will provide energy to underserved and unserved geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas (GIDAs).
“The new green technology aims to be sustainable and an efficient source of energy,” he said.
“PNOC has been actively promoting renewable energy, and it is important that we partner with them,” he added.
Moreover, Butalid said providing energy solutions in GIDAs is one of the PNOC’s objectives.
“So this is one project that will showcase an intersection of the mission of PNOC and CICC,” Butalid said
“Because the energy solution that we are providing is very new to the country,” he added.
Butalid says this project will mark the first time the Philippines will use a hybrid wind and solar power facility.
Also, India, South America, and Indonesia have already been using this highly practical and portable technology.
He explained that this combined energy solution has a higher capacity than solar alone.
Soon, the CICC will deploy the new green energy technology in 10 locations nationwide.
