MANILA, Philippines–The digital superheroes are in this 2015. At one point in your marketing career, you attempt to be your team’s digital superhero because somebody has to take this responsibility. Too many species of this world may be endangered but the digital world is here to stay.

Understanding digital marketing to convey your brand voice is one of your superpowers, and without it, your power level is just not enough for the competition out there. Superheroes, on the other hand, are subject to their own kryptonite. Let us marvel at how you use your superpowers as a digital superhero and learn about how to communicate your brand voice in moderation.

Are you Ironman? Are you as complicated as Tony Stark? The key rule in messaging is to simplify. Your digital marketing strategies do not need to be as complicated as the specifications of Ironman’s armor. Do not leave your audience hanging as they second-guess the kind of message you want to send. Communicate effectively by keeping your message as simple as possible. With the high traffic in digital media marketing, you do not want your message too hard or too technical for your customers to understand.

FEATURED STORIES

Are you Captain America? Yes, your brand supports values and your company is built upon principles but customers get bored with too long litany and being preachy does not help you communicate your brand voice. Learn to be creative with your message instead of being too devotional. Your brand fighting for and promoting a cause does not necessarily mean it has to be moralistic; it could also be spicy and fun. Make your sermon informative and interesting to make it easy for your customers to digest.

Are you the Hulk? Do your messages come across too strong? You might be incredibly strong, and incredibly durable but remember that the more extraordinary your claim is, the weaker the perceived credibility of your message would seem. In fact, if you are too incredible, you might be perceived as a threat instead of a friend. Or are you the in-the-mood kind of digital marketer? Sometimes, absent; sometimes, present; and sometimes, too big. Consistency is the key not an all-out one time big time thing. Learn your brand soft spot that can appeal to your customers.

Are you Thor? All you need to know is that Thor’s power rivals the Hulk. Only the Hulk sometimes cannot control himself. Thor, however, just knows perfectly well that he can and he is not ashamed of it. That was why Odin taught him the lesson of humility. Sometimes it is not your superpowers that make you appealing to mankind. It is your compassion over them. If you are the digital marketer that is so sure of yourself, take a pause and a step back and see things from your customers’ perspective. Advertising is not supposed to make you a god. You serve your customers and not the other way around.

Are you Loki? Sometimes, we just hate him for being duplicitous and deceptive. It is just hard to figure him out as a character. As a message, he pretty much keeps you mystified and while he is entertaining in movies, he is not necessarily amusing if translated to a message. Yes, he also dreams of becoming a ruler but without building trust, he is doomed to fail. Honesty builds trust among your customers and you cannot be Loki to achieve that.

There are a lot of superheroes and it is up for you to decide in which character and style you fit in.

What is the right balance of strength to be a super marketer?
