‘Pokémon Go of New York’ catches social media attention
Nearly a month after its launch in selected countries, smash-hit mobile app Pokémon Go is still a trending topic on several social media platforms. In fact, a humorous Facebook page is solely dedicated to Pokémons and their “stories.”
“Pokémon Go of New York,” a Facebook parody of the viral Facebook page Humans of New York, provides social media users and Pokémon Go fans with a colony of creative and imaginative posts featuring pocket monsters and their “thoughts” about humans. The mission of the page–which is owned by David Wardell, Schuyler Burks, Christine Erickson and Dalton Deschain–is to exemplify New York with “one Pokéstory at a time.”
Wardell said the photos were from the creatures they captured and the stories are purely from real-life situations of human beings.
“The tricky thing is: there’s currently no way to take pictures of Pokémon that you’ve already captured,” Wardell told Huffington Post. “So, all of your shots have to depend on you seeing the right Pokémon at the right time, at the right location.”
The Facebook page has 14,071 likes as of this writing. Gianna Francesca Catolico
