LOOK: Astronauts share nighttime Earth photos on Facebook

Astronauts witness some of the most breathtaking sights that any human being can ever get to see. But thanks to social media, these brave explorers are able to share some of the beautiful visions that they’ve captured.

Last Sept. 21, astronauts currently stationed in the International Space Station (ISS) shared several nighttime photos of our dear planet Earth on their official Facebook account.

The images show the parts of the Earth that humans currently inhabit, signified by the intensity of artificial lighting emanating from these areas. Brighter lights indicate higher density of human habitation, which can be a big city, while the less illuminated can be assumed as suburban or rural area.
