Spotify buying SoundCloud?

SoundCloud has been providing independent music artists with a means to get their music out there and be heard. Introducing their library of independently created content to Spotify’s listeners could go a long way for both companies.  Image SoundCloud

SoundCloud has been a favorite medium for independent music creators for quite some time now. So talks of major music streaming service Spotify moving to acquire the independent music service is definitely something to keep track of.

The Next Web reports that Spotify recently hit a milestone of 40 million paying customers. SoundCloud, on the other hand, has just launched its own music streaming service.

There is no official word yet as to whether Spotify is even interested in acquiring SoundCloud yet, but the incorporation of SoundCloud’s library of independent music into Spotify’s own library could be a great boon to the latter, especially as competition with Apple Music is starting to heat up.

For now, It’s still too early to speculate what Spotify will do to SoundCloud if and when it acquires the company.
