PewDiePie to erase YouTube channel after hitting 50M followers

/ 11:31 AM December 09, 2016

After garnering 50 million subscribers on his YouTube channel, internet sensation PewDiePie is abandoning his large following on the video-streaming site, which he accused of “video manipulation.”

In a tweet on Friday, PewDiePie, whose real name is Felix Kjellberg, informed his subscribers that he would delete his YouTube channel at 5 p.m. GMT on Friday (1 a.m. Saturday, PST). This is in accordance with his announcement last week that he would erase his channel once he is followed by 50 million users.

He threw a tantrum after he accused YouTube of “manipulating” his videos through changes in the recommended views section of the site. “So, what they’re (YouTube) doing instead is that they are recommending videos about people you don’t give a s**t about,” he said on his YouTube video.

An emotional PewDiePie, 27, accused YouTube of attracting more click baits claiming that it picked top videos based on the video’s title and thumbnail. “It is really upsetting how they did this change. They won’t explain what happened properly to anyone,” PewDiePie grumbled. “This site means so much to YouTubers like me and everyone else.”
