Ragnarok Online hints new features for upcoming PH re-launch
Back in 2015, Level Up! Games officially pulled the plug on the Philippine Ragnarok Online (pRO) servers. This marked the end of an era for Philippine online gaming.
However, fans of the game may rejoice as the classic massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) that started it all in the country is coming back.
The game will be handled by Electronics Extreme and ELITE, the regional and local publishers of the game, respectively.
Ragnarok Online has recently had a renaissance in Taiwan, Thailand and Indonesia, where the game regained popularity. With the renown of this classic MMORPG in the Philippines, it was only a matter of time that servers were reactivated in the country.
While details about the the game’s business model have yet to be revealed, an interview with Electronics Extreme and ELITE representatives at the Ragnarok Festival 2017 held at SM North Edsa Annex, hinted that it has a high probability of being free-to-play.
With regards to bots and cheating, ELITE representatives have assured that the relaunched servers will be free of these illegal elements to ensure quality gamer experience.
Made by Gravity Co. Ltd, Ragnarok Online first launched in the Philippines back in 2003 and it was the first MMORPG title in the country. It allowed thousands of players to interact in and inhabit a vast landscape, filled with monsters to hunt and quests to complete.
More information on the exact date when servers will be open to the public will be announced soon. JB
