Nintendo may be planning to revive their classic handheld console through the Mini Game Boy.
It was discovered in September that Nintendo had filed for a trademark on what appears to be the original Game Boy gaming device. A photo, which may be viewed in Twitter via @trademark_bot, was included in the application.
This was filed under categories for “Programs for household video game machines,” “Household video games,” “Key chains,” “Bag charms,” “Cosmetic tools,” and “Clothing,” according to Livedoor News via Anime News Network.
The number of categories suggest a full scale campaign which includes promotional products to leverage on the nostalgia factor of the classic Game Boy.
A similar move was observed when Nintendo filed trademarks for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) and Nintendo Entertainment System Classic Editions a few months before the game consoles were released. Alfred Bayle/JB
