Weekly PC download charts: ‘PUBG’ reaches year-bestseller mark, ‘Far Cry 5’ makes an entrance

“PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds” makes it a year at the top of Steam’s bestseller chart, “Far Cry 5” prepares for launch with some high pre-release rankings, “Ni no Kuni II” makes an impressive improvement, and the “Monkey Island” trilogy enjoys a new lease of life.
By Sunday, March 25, 2018, “PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds” had spent 52 consecutive weeks on top of Steam’s revenue-based weekly bestseller chart.
The last-person-standing fight to the finish has added two and four-player team modes, a second map, and numerous tweaks and fixes since its Steam PC debut on March 23, 2017.
Meanwhile, rat-infested team action adventure “Warhammer: Vermintide 2” keeps up the pace across a number of online retailers, with high chart placings on Steam, GamersGate and Fanatical.
At the same time, “Far Cry 5” prepares for launch as reviews land ahead of a March 27 debut on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, Ubisoft’s latest sandbox of explosive experimentation and fantasy revolt lodges itself in fourth on Steam, and atop of the Humble Store and Fanatical.
And on GOG, a re-release of the “Monkey Island” trilogy, this time without copy-protection in accordance with the site’s prevailing ethos, sprinkles itself upon the top five.
Elsewhere, we see an enthusiastic reception for “Ni no Kuni II”, the anime-style adventure that, since first previewed to the press, has shown considerable improvement; it places fourth on Humble, fifth on Fanatical, and within the Steam top 10.
