Disney to release mobile game ‘Disney Heroes: Battle Mode’
The first fruits of a partnership between Disney and mobile developer PerBlue has been announced, and it’s the Android and iOS game “Disney Heroes: Battle Mode”.
In its announcement, Disney name-checks “The Incredibles”, “Wreck-It Ralph”, the “Pirates of the Caribbean” franchise and more, pulling in other characters from “Zootopia”, “Monsters, Inc.” and “Toy Story”.
“Disney Heroes: Battle Mode” is going to be a 5v5 action game in which players select characters, sometimes in unlikely combinations, and then match them up against opposing teams.
Disney and PerBlue are encouraging pre-registration sign-ups through an official website, disneyheroesgame.com, and offering registrants “a free hero of their choice at game launch,” valued at $15 (over P700), indicating one of the ways in which the two companies plan on generating revenue from their players (or players’ parents and other relatives.)
Another website section invites visitors to pick a favorite fantasy superpower in order to receive a pre-allocation of virtual currency upon “DH:BM”‘s launch.
A release date for “Disney Heroes: Battle Mode” has not yet been announced. JB
