A Texan teenager surprised her prom date by walking to greet him at the door after months of being unable to use her legs.
The girl, identified only as Morgan, of San Antonio, Texas, USA, had been unable to use her legs for the past 10 months due to conversion disorder. It is a mental condition wherein a person experiences blindness, paralysis or other nervous-system symptoms, which cannot be explained by standard medical evaluation.
On the day of her school prom, she decided to surprise her date, Tarik, by meeting him at the door of their house and walking toward him. A clip of the event was uploaded on her Twitter account @aeonianlife on April 28. The tweet has since since been viewed over 13 million times and liked over one million times. It was also retweeted nearly 300,000 times, while comments on the post have gone up to over 7,000 at the time of this writing.

Tarik (@tarik_a_garcia) was so taken aback by her few steps toward him when the door opened that he shrieked right at the doorway. He then rushed in to give Morgan a big hug before screaming, “No, how did you do that?” Still in disbelief but very happy, Tarik again hugged Morgan while being careful with the flower corsage he held on his left hand.
Morgan wrote on her tweet thread that she wasn’t born with conversion disorder and that the incident from which she acquired the condition happened almost a year ago.
Morgan’s friend Lexi (@lexi_gonzales7) later tweeted that Morgan was crowned their high school prom queen.
