WATCH: Mama bear fetches baby bear peeking in family’s door

A mom whose house was visited by a curious baby bear and its mother found the interaction endearing and relatable, especially as the mama bear fetched its baby for wandering around people’s property.
Sumer Walser Williams and her husband woke up early in the morning last week to the sound of some ruckus outside their house in the United States. The mom caught the bears’ visit on tape and showed it on her Facebook account on Aug. 11.
Williams was shocked to see the cub wandering around the front deck and eventually peeking through the glass door. Moments later, the mama bear climbed the deck too, but then dragged the cub out of the property.
“I think the cub wanted to come inside to hang out, but his momma wasn’t in the mood to deal with his mischievousness at [4 a.m.],” Williams mused. “I thought the momma would come from around the walkway to find him, I never thought she’d scale our front deck.”
Williams joked that she should have been a “good host” to her visitors and lit up the fire pit. The cub also defecated in her daughters’ inflatable pool but “didn’t even bother to clean up their mess on their way out,” she noted in jest.
She then imagined what the mama bear would have said if it could talk.
“Mom’s reaction in my head played out as ‘Let’s go, I have told you a hundred times not to bother people while we’re raiding their house for goodies,'” Williams imagined. “‘We have to be silent. I’ve told you this. Why can’t you seem to listen? I had to climb 12 feet up a pole to rescue your little butt. Get off their deck now.'”

Williams and her husband’s bedroom backs up to their front deck, CBS-affiliate WBTV reported on Aug. 10. Instead of being terrified by the creatures, the couple recalled thinking the occurrence was “totally cool,” as per The Dodo on Aug. 13.
“It was so relatable. That’s my daily experience with my own children,” Williams was quoted as saying. “I think that’s what made the video so great. It showed that some aspects of parenting are uniform across species.” Cha Lino/JB
