Amazon Inspire Offers New Shopping Features | Inquirer Technology

Amazon Inspire Brings TikTok-Like Shoppable Content

09:46 AM December 09, 2022

Amazon saw how TikTok became a powerful marketing tool and found inspiration to launch the Inspire feature.

Amazon Inspire would feature short-form videos ala TikTok, but it would let viewers purchase products directly from the clips.

That is why the eCommerce firm is looking for influencers to create video content. It will launch in the United States to a few shoppers.

To illustrate how the new feature works, let us say you are one of the lucky few who will test it. You would start by opening the Amazon Shopping app and tapping the Inspire icon.

FEATURED STORIES

The initial launch would let you choose over 20 interests to personalize your feed. These include gaming, plants, hiking, interior design, travel, and pets.

You will notice that Amazon Inspire is a cross between Instagram and TikTok. You may post seconds-long clips, but you may also post photos.

Like Instagram, you may double-tap the screen to send “likes,” represented as red hearts.

Also, you scroll through Amazon Inspire by swimming up from the bottom to view the next video, similar to TikTok.

Yet, the Inspire feature sets itself apart from these apps because you may tap on buttons that link to Amazon product pages.

The initial launch puts the buttons on an overlay window. Tap on the See All Details button to view the Amazon product page for the featured product.

Oliver Messenger, the director of Amazon Shopping, released a statement regarding the Inspire feature.

“We invent every day to make shopping easy and fun,” he said. “Inspire is our new shopping experience that connects Amazon customers with shoppable content created by other customers, the latest influencers, and a wide range of brands.”

“In just a few taps, customers can discover new products or get inspiration on what to buy, all tailored to their interests, and then shop for those items on Amazon.”

The Amazon Influencer Program will also allow Inspire influencers to earn money from customer transactions.

Nowadays, viral TikTok videos often feature products available on Amazon. Influencers refer followers to their Amazon storefronts to buy products so that they earn a commission.

Inspire allows Amazon to benefit further from that user engagement.

Conclusion

Amazon Inspire lets influencers earn money from posting TikTok-like videos on the eCommerce platform.

Other companies have launched similar features. For example, Snapchat’s AR Shopping Lens lets you try eyewear via augmented reality and buy them immediately.

Meanwhile, a similar feature called livestream shopping is expanding worldwide thanks to TikTok LIVE and other apps. Learn more about these trends from Inquirer Tech.
