Spotify DJ Makes Playlists Using AI

06:08 AM February 23, 2023

Spotify’s new feature uses artificial intelligence to create a personalized playlist based on your interests and music history.

Moreover, it has an AI “host” that announces your songs like a radio DJ, voiced by Spotify’s Head of Cultural Partnerships, Xavier “X” Jernigan.

The best part is that it is easy to access on the mobile app. However, make sure you have the latest version so that you can use Spotify DJ.

How to use Spotify DJ

FEATURED STORIES

Start by opening the Spotify app and tapping the Music tab at the top of your Home Screen. Then, the DJ Card should appear at the top of your feed.

If you don’t see it, check if you have the latest version of Spotify. Next, it will give a brief introduction voiced by Xavier “X” Jernigan.

Afterward, the Spotify DJ will begin your personalized feed. Like regular Spotify, you may skip tracks or get a different playlist by tapping the DJ button in the bottom right corner.

It uses artificial intelligence to determine what songs to recommend based on your preferences. It’s similar to the Listening Personalities from last year’s Spotify Wrapped.

AI scans your favorite songs to assign you a Listening Personality describing your real-life traits. Spotify DJ works similarly, except it provides a set of songs

Also, it uses the voice of Spotify’s Head of Cultural Partnerships to announce your songs. As a result, you feel like you have a DJ in the palm of your hand!

Spotify is the largest music streaming service in the world. It has over 200 million paid subscribers and 82 million tracks you can access for free.

If you want an ad-free experience, you must pay ₱149 monthly for Spotify Premium. Despite its popularity, the app still tries to innovate with new features like Spotify DJ.

It is not the only one that tries to merge music and AI. For example, Google is working on an AI music generator called MusicLM.

It can produce songs based on obscure sources, from random whistling to descriptions of a painting.

You may also describe odd mashups of genres and artists, and Google AI would do its best to turn them into music.

YouTube Music recently launched a feature that lets you make personalized radio stations. The Radio Builder feature could play songs from specific artists or similar ones.

Last month, the PlaylistAI app gained a new feature to create playlists in other music apps like Spotify. However, you may not need it anymore because of the new DJ feature.

Conclusion

The new Spotify DJ creates playlists based on your preferences voiced by an AI. As a result, it gives you a personalized radio station.
