Netizens question Ramon Bautista’s support for Roxas
Host-comedian Ramon Bautista got mixed reactions on social media after he appeared on the video of presidential aspirant Mar Roxas and his running mate Leni Robredo.
In a four-minute video, Bautista was among Filipino celebrities and sports icons who expressed their support to the presidential bid of Roxas and his tandem Robredo.

Netizens were quick to react on Bautista’s participation, saying he
was one of those who laughed on one of Roxas’ video having bumping fists awkwardly with a school kid.
In May, Roxas was seen in a video trying to interact with a young schoolboy. The kid, however, was unresponsive to Roxas’ actions.
In their show, “Kontrabando,” Bautista together with his co-hosts imitated Roxas and the kid’s reaction. They were seen laughing in the video.
Broadcaster Korina Sanchez, wife of Roxas, posted on her Instagram account that Bautista told Roxas that bumping fists was an “enjoyable” gimmick.
Some netizens said they were dismayed seeing Bautista on Roxas’ video.
Netizens said Bautista compromised his principle for the sake of money.
But the director of the video earlier said the artists who appeared on the video did not receive a talent fee.
“All the artists who came on board for the MTV volunteered when we spoke to them. No one was paid for this except the production team,” director Cristhian Escolano said.

A co-host of Bautista in their show Kontrabando, defended Bautista, saying netizens should respect Bautista’s “political opinion.”
“Kung ‘di ka marunong rumespeto sa political opinion ng iba, baka ‘di ka hiyang sa demokrasya,” Rivera said in a Twitter post. NC/IDL
