Fan creates AI to finish George R.R. Martin’s ‘Winds of Winter’ book

To say that novelist George R.R. Martin is taking his time finishing the sixth novel of his epic fantasy series “A Song of Ice and Fire” would be an understatement.

The 68-year-old writer is still in the writing process for the much-awaited “The Winds of Winter,” which fans have been eagerly awaiting for the past six years.

While Martin said that the book was nearing completion, he has pushed back its release date a couple of times and opted to publish secondary books in the meantime.

Fed up with waiting, one antsy fan has decided to do something about it and created his own neural network, which wrote fictional five chapters of the sought-after novel.

According to media outlet Uproxx, programmer Zach Thoutt built an artificial intelligence (AI), which made 5,376 pages worth of content based on Martin’s previous works.

Although the result didn’t quite live up to Martin’s legendary form of writing, the fictional arc did pick up from the original series’ many cliffhangers.

One passage even featured lead character Jon Snow riding a dragon—which was heavily speculated by avid readers before.

“Jon rode the dragons in a steep circle, buried fingers in the sand and there a burnt slope,” one chapter read. “With a man should leave us clean, wench,” he said. “Stop him. Is that much? Until you’re at Winterfell simply get inside ’em o’ wildlings, or on the sound of a bastard dies.”

Martin, meanwhile, has received tons of content from eager fans before, but has yet to address the AI-generated work.
