Coronavirus: Interest continues to decrease worldwide on Google
Based on Google Search analytics, the world’s interest in COVID-19 has continued to decrease since the third week of March; last week, worldwide interest reached its lowest level since the beginning of March.
As the people of the world hunker down in their respective homes amid quarantine orders and adapt to the stay-at-home lifestyles, interest in the very cause that led to such mandates continues to decrease. In fact, according to Google’s Search analytics, interest in the coronavirus has continued to decrease for about a month now.
Article continues after this advertisementLast week, the week of April 5 to April 11, global search interest in COVID-19 reached its record low since the third week in March which marked the all-time high. Last week will have been the fourth week in a row that worldwide interest has decreased albeit the number of cases and deaths across the planet still steadily increasing.
Right now, Italy, Spain, Qatar, Ireland and the United Kingdom are contributing the most to the amount of search interest in the virus even though none of these countries have the highest number of cases, deaths, or ratio of either compared to their population size. Those currently suffering from the most reported cases and deaths are the United States, Italy, Spain and France.
According to WorldOMeter.com, the current number of cases across the world is over 1.9 million, the number of deaths is over 119,000, and the number of recoveries is over 453,000. CL/JB
