Sony opens online registration for chance to pre-order PS5
PlayStation enthusiasts now have the chance to pre-order Sony’s next-generation console, the PlayStation 5 (PS5), although it is currently limited to the United States.
Sony opened its online registration to PlayStation users with addresses in the U.S. for the opportunity to be the first to get the console.
“There will be a limited quantity of PS5 consoles available for pre-order, so we will be inviting some of our existing consumers to be one of the first to pre-order one from PlayStation,” the company said in its official website.
“Pre-order reservations will be taken on a first-come-first-serve basis, so once you get an invite via email, we encourage you to follow instructions and act fast,” it further stated.
Registering, however, does not guarantee gamers to get their hands on the PS5 right away. Only a limited number of registrants will be receiving an invitation to actually pre-order the said console.
Sony will be selecting invitation recipients “based on previous interests and PlayStation activities,” according to its website. The fortunate participants will receive an email from Sony.
Even those who will be invited, however, are still not guaranteed to seal a PS5 deal immediately as the invitation will only be up for a limited time. Quantities are also limited per PlayStation Network (PSN) ID for a transaction.
Only one PS5 console can be pre-ordered per PSN ID. Those who will be invited will have the chance to pre-order the items listed below:
- 1 PS5 Console or 1 PS5 Digital Edition
- 2 DualSense wireless controllers
- 2 DualSense charging stations
- 2 Pulse 3D wireless headsets
- 2 Media remotes
- 2 HD cameras
Sony also noted that while pre-ordering the console is only limited to a select few, other PS5 products will be available for pre-order to the general public.
Those who will sign up and receive an invite but provide a non-U.S. based address will have their orders canceled.
Despite opening the registration, Sony is yet to reveal the price and the exact release date of the console, which is teased for release on “Holiday 2020.” JB
