Do you need professional marketers to promote your brand affordably? TikTok Digital Avatars will make that possible with AI-generated characters that look like real people. 

It will allow companies to deploy AI avatars that will represent their brand with AI-generated or pre-recorded scripts. Also, TikTok’s demo clip says these characters can speak over 30 different languages. 

Andy Yang, Head of Creative Product, said this program will open new global opportunities for online creators and spark “joy, imagination, and action.”

How will TikTok digital avatars work?

The digital avatars are part of TikTok’s latest AI service suite called Symphony. Symphony Digital Avatars use AI to generate human-like characters to represent brands online.

Companies may choose how the avatars look by modifying their nationalities, expressions, gestures, and other characteristics.

The TikTok digital avatars use Symphony AI Dubbing to speak pre-recorded or AI-made scripts in various languages, such as English, Spanish, and Japanese. These digital characters will have two types:

  • Stock Avatars are pre-built characters licensed for commercial use, which were made with paid actors. Businesses of various sizes may choose one based on various characteristics and languages. 
  • Custom Avatars are tailor-made to suit a brand’s specific needs, allowing companies to use their original intellectual properties for online marketing.

At the time of writing, TikTok is facing a ban in the United States unless it divests the company until January 19, 2024. 

Nevertheless, the social media app is going strong in other countries like the Philippines. Statista says the Philippines is the ninth-largest TikTok audience as of April 2024. That is why Filipino content creators will have access to its digital avatars soon.
